Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) On a tactile graphic display, the pins are arranged in a matrix, and jaggies occur when representing oblique lines other than 45°. It is not clear whether such oblique lines can be recognized as straight lines. In this study, we conducted an experiment to clarify the accuracy of angle perception of oblique lines displayed on the tactile display. The same experiment was done with swell paper by which oblique lines can be accurately represented. The results show that there was no significant difference in the accuracy of angle perception between the tactile display and swell paper. However, the response time was relatively longer for swell paper. There was no significant difference in the accuracy of angle perception and response time between the two types of oblique lines (4-connected and 8-connected) displayed on the tactile display. The angles of 10° and 90° were perceived at high correct rates (over 80%), and the accuracy of angle perception deteriorated as angles move away from these fundamental angles.
