Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Duplex Cellular System with Distributed Receive-only Base Stations in Single-cell Environment

Abstract(in English) To accommodate rapidly increasing data traffic, researches on improvement of spectrum utilization efficiency toward 6G communication systems have been actively conducted. Particularly, in-band full-duplex (IBFD), which doubles the user throughput under ideal conditions, has been attracting much attention. To introduce the IBFD into the cellular system, dynamic duplex cellular (DDC) system, which applies IBFD only when it does not affect the existing links, has been proposed. However, improvement of user throughput in the conventional DDC system, has been limited because of the residual self-interference (SI) at a base station (BS). This report proposes a DDC system with distributed receive-only base stations. In the proposed system, the radio unit (RU) of BS is separated into transmit-only RU (TRU) and receive-only RU (RRU), and the RRUs are spatially distributed in the cell to reduce SI. The proposed system is evaluated by computer simulation in the single-cell environment to show its effectiveness on user throughput.
