Optical amplification for radio-over-fiber transmission with optical power supply

Abstract(in English) Power over fiber (PoF) has been investigated for stable power supply in a radio on fiber (RoF) wireless service network in the event of a disaster as well as installation and operation cost reduction of infrastructure. A cladding-pumped erbium-doped fiber amplifier (CP-EDFA) with a double-clad erbium-doped fiber (DC-EDF) is studied as an optical repeater for RoR employing PoF. C-band and L-band CP-EDFAs utilize a portion of a delivered light power as a pump power. In this investigation, wavelength of the delivered light and DC-EDF parameters are optimized by using a CP-EDFA simulation and the optimum wavelength is validated by experiment.
