Abstract(in English) We review the preferable crosstalk levels of uncoupled multi-core fibers in terms of optical signal-to-noise ratio penalty and transmission capacity, and discuss the sources and behavior of the crosstalk in bidirectional MCF transmission systems where the signal lights counter-propagates between neighboring cores. Based on the discussions, we reveal the preferable crosstalk levels for bidirectional MCF transmission systems.
