Abstract(in English) | We propose a novel human-robot interaction research field aimed to study the effects of eating a robot composed of edible materials on human psychology and cognition. As the first step of our research, this paper introduces a gelatin-based edible robot with adjustable movements that we developed. We also reported the results of a preliminary study to investigate what kind of movements of an edible robot arouse appetite and make the robot look tasty. As this research progresses, we could be able to explore the background of food culture scientifically, for example, "odorigui (eating live seafood)" and "ikezukuri (preparing of sashimi from live seafood)" by using edible robotics technology. |
