A Consideration on Network Ontology Bonsai and its Usecases

Abstract(in English) The authors are developing the KANVAS (Knowledge base system in wide Area Networks with Versatility, Availability, and Scalability) system as a platform for exchanging network information in wide area IP networks. KANVAS defines a network ontology named ``Bonsai'' for enabling exchange of network information among organizations by expressing network information, especially topology information, routing information, and operation information, in a machine readable format. It is important to consider a variety of virtualization technologies adopted today's Internet for expressing topology information. This paper describes the design of Bonsai in detail taking account of a variety of virtualization technologies. It is also described how the network information expressed in Bonsai is used by applications via KANVAS.
