Automatic evaluation of central facial palsy using video analysis

Abstract(in English) The central facial palsy is the facial palsy caused by an obstruction of the central nervous system due to a stroke and so on. In this study, the central facial palsy is evaluated through analyzing the motion picture. More concretely, first, the facial area and facial landmarks are detected from an input image by deep learning techniques. Next, the symmetry, amplitude of mouth motion and the shape of mouth are measured using the detected landmarks. The experimental results on healthy people and the patients with stroke suggest the feasibility of classification based on disease severity.
