Application Study of Downlink Coherent Method and Uplink SIMO Reception in TWDM-PON System with Link Redundancy

Abstract(in English) A 40 Gbit/s class time division multiple access passive optical network (TWDM-PON: Time and wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network) using uplink C-band and downlink L-band as specified in NG-PON2 with Type B protection. In this paper, a single-core bi-directional asymmetric modulation transmission system with polarization-multiplexed orthogonal quadrature phase shift keying (DP-QPSK: Dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying) in the downlink C-band is studied. The feasibility of the C-band asymmetric modulation single-core bidirectional transmission system is clarified by experiments, considering the effect of the burst signal single input multi-output (SIMO: Single-input multi-output) reception in the uplink in the case of no link interruption and the effect of the reflection generated in the case of link interruption.
