A Study on Deep Unfolding-Aided GNSS Positioning

Abstract(in English) In Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning, the receiver position is estimated by solving the nonlinear simultaneous equations by the iterative method. However, disturbances induced by the ionosphere and troposphere deteriorate the accuracy of positioning. In order to suppress the harmful influence of the disturbance, differential positioning that improves the positioning accuracy with the assistance of the correction data yielded from the base station is effective. In this paper, we apply a deep unfolding (DU) technology that is a kind of deep learning technique and can construct flexible derivation algorithms by training data set to the GNSS iterative estimation algorithm. After learning the DU network based on observation data at the base station, and then the rover receives the correction data obtained in the DU network. The correction data helps in improving the rover positioning performance. This paper shows the effectiveness of DU-aided positioning, assuming the utilization of smartphones equipped with a low-cost GNSS receiver.
