Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a LUT-based MUD scheme imitating AMP for uplink signal detection in large MU-MIMO systems. AMP is a solid inference framework to achieve low-complexity MUD, however, when the internal processing is performed with double-precision arithmetic, increasing power consumption and large memory occupation become major obstacles to practical application as the system scale increases. To tackle this issue, we design a novel referential AMP detector that imitates the internal processing of a double-precision AMP detector by stacking many small LUT in a hierarchical manner. In the proposed method, the quantization thresholds of LUT are sequentially designed based on the discrete distribution tracking of LUT outputs at each level of the hierarchy to minimize the performance degradation owing to quantization errors. The optimization of the thresholds based on the discrete distribution is performed by the Lloyd-Max algorithm with initial values given by the k-means++ method. Numerical results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method in terms of the BER performance and memory usage. In addition, we show that the proposed LUT created based on uncorrelated channels can work in different communication environments, and then discuss the reason for this qualitatively.
