Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The non-contact measurement of vital signs using millimeter-wave radar has attracted much attention. However, few studies have analyzed the scattering of electromagnetic waves from the human body surface in this application. The human body is much larger than a wavelength of millimeter-wave radar, and the physical optics approximation is thus suitable for analysis. The calculation volume is often unacceptably large because it is necessary to calculate the integration of the entire target model. We therefore proposed a method of reducing the computational cost using the normal vector of the target surface. Although this method has been effectively applied to a human body in a supine position, its effectiveness for other postures has not been evaluated. In addition, the dependency of the distance between the radar and the human body has not been investigated. In this study, we applied the method to a seated person, evaluated its performance, and investigated the relation between the distance and computational cost.
