Simple Transmission Rate Evaluation for 5G Using CW

Abstract(in English) The commercial use of the 5th generation mobile communication system, commonly known as 5G, started last year, and there are high expectations that it will be able to achieve a large capacity transmission about 100 times higher than the previous generation 4G system. In order to evaluate the transmission rate of commercial 5G systems, it is necessary to use a protocol analyzer, which makes it difficult for anyone other than telecommunication carriers to evaluate the system. In addition, when evaluating actual 5G signals, it is necessary to handle very wide bandwidth signals. However, equipment for handling wideband signals is expensive, and only a few research institutes have such equipment. Therefore, we propose a method to evaluate the transmission rate of 5G systems by calculating the Rice Factor K and SNR using CW. In this paper, we report the results of the proposed method on data measured in an actual urban environment. The results are compared with those of the conventional method using the propagation channel.
