Abstract(in English) Luminescent fibers have been studied for their application technologies in various fields such as antennas for visible light communication, luminescent solar concentrators and radiation detectors. In these applications, it is important to evaluate the fluorescence propagation characteristics in the luminescent fiber, i.e., the measurement method of attenuation coefficient. In this study, we investigate a normalized attenuation coefficient measurement method for luminescent fibers based on the side-induced fluorescence method, which is robust to fluctuations in the incident excitation light power. First, we develop a model for the propagation of fluorescence in a luminescent fiber. The model is used to derive a attenuation coefficient measurement method. Numerical analysis is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the measurement method. In addition, a luminescent fiber is fabricated, and its normalized attenuation coefficient is measured.
