Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This empirical study examines the correlation between the increase in reading volume and the increase in reading speed (Words per minute, wpm) and the comprehension of the content (Effective words per minute, e-wpm: Koyama, 2009) by incorporating Extensive Reading (ER) into English reading classes for the first and second year university students and organically combining rapid reading and oral reading using chunk reading with ER. By organically combining ER with rapid reading and oral reading using chunk reading, this study also aims to construct a system to support the improvement of the students’ reading ability and autonomous learning.
