Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With the growing demand for wireless mobile services and the development of fifth- and sixth-generation mobile communication systems, the throughput analysis of broadband wireless transmission in extremely high-frequency bands is becoming increasingly important. This report investigates the system capacity of millimeter-wave (mmWave) and terahertz (THz) broadband communications considering delayed waves and radiation patterns, as well as the molecular absorption and rain attenuation. In our performance evaluation, single-carrier with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) is adopted as a practical transmission method for extremely high-frequency bands, and the 3GPP technical report (TR) 38.901 is used as the channel and antenna model to evaluate the impact of delay spread and radiation pattern. Numerical results showed that the directional antenna provides approximately 3.0 times and 2.3 times more throughput than an isotropic antenna under the line-of-sight (LoS) and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions, respectively, at the carrier frequency of 100 GHz and at the link distance of 50 meters.
