Performance Evaluation of Success Prioritized DCF for TCP Congestion Control Algorithms

Abstract(in English) In recent years, wireless communication devices, such as mobile phones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices have become more popular. As the standard medium access control (MAC) protocol in wireless local area networks (LANs), distributed coordination function (DCF) is used. However, in the conventional DCF method, the network throughput decreases and the packet discord rate increases in a high-dense environment with a large number of stations (STAs). To solve this problem, Success-Prioritized DCF (SP-DCF) was proposed and provides channel access priority to a STA that has just successfully transmitted a data frame. It was shown that SP-DCF with user datagram protocol (UDP) achieves higher throughput and lower packet discard rate than DCF. However, the performances of SP-DCF with transmission control protocol (TCP) have not been evaluated. In this thesis, we evaluate the performances of SP-DCF with various TCP congestion control algorithms.
