Abstract(in English) | This paper presents a varactor-loaded dual-band miniaturized multi-ring microstrip antenna (MR-MSA) with straight shorted elements. A varactor-loaded single-layer shorted MR-MSA fed by an L-probe has been proposed as a miniaturized frequency-tunable multiband planar antenna. In this antenna, the ring patches are divided into two separated elements by shorted vias, respectively. Furthermore, one of the two separated elements of each patch can be removed, and then further miniaturization of the antenna can be achieved. However, unwanted radiation from the L-probe results in increasement of cross polarization because the L-probe and the radiation elements are arranged in orthogonal directions each other. In order to reduce the cross polarization from the L-probe, a miniaturized varactor-loaded dual-band MSAs with the two straight shorted radiation elements and a modified L-probe with two strip lines at both sides of the feeding point is proposed. In this paper, frequency-tunable performance and radiation properties of the proposed frequency-tunable dual-band MR-MSA are investigated experimentally. |
