Performance of Multidimensional TCM-QAM with Nonlinearity

Abstract(in English) In this paper, performance of multidimensional coded QAM is studied considering the power amplifier (PA) nonlinearity. In order to increase the transmission data rate, the use of high-order QAM is one of the most promising methods. However, since the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) increases with higher-order constellation of QAM signals, the linearity of the amplifiers is highly required. In this paper, we attempt to solve this problem by using QAM with multi-dimensional trellis coded modulation (MD-TCM QAM). In this paper, we assume a millimeter-wave amplifier model applied to IEEE802.11ad standard, and evaluate the effect of amplifier nonlinearity in MD-TCM QAM and conventional coded QAM by error rate performance. As a result, it is found that the MD-TCM QAM is less affected by the nonlinearity than the conventional QAM. It is also found that 3 to 5[dB] higher input power to the PA can be available by using MD-TCM QAM.
