Abstract(in English) | Optical transport networks based on space-division multiplexed (SDM) technologies are expected to support the continuous growth of the Internet and data traffic demand. The key systems of such transport networks are SDM photonic node with optical amplification, optical add/drop multiplexing functions and optical transceivers, and network operation/design systems. For network design, optical path assignment has been studied in order to utilize the network resources more efficiently by maximizing the degree of spatial freedom yielded by SDM. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a novel outing, spectrum and core assignment (RSCA) algorithm, that improves the accommodation efficiency of SDM networks while reducing the power consumption of MC-EDFAs; experiments on a 19-core EDFA demonstrate the power-saving performance of the proposed algorithm. |
