Abstract(in English) | Expansion of the optical band used for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is a key to increasing the capacity of optical fiber transmission systems using single-mode fiber. We have been studying the application of wideband, low-noise optical parametric amplification (OPA) using a periodically poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) waveguide as an inline amplifier in a WDM transmission system. This paper describes our proposed two-stage PPLN-based OPA for an inline repeater and reports a long-haul WDM transmission experiment. Our proposed OPA-based repeater can extend a span length from 30.8 km to 80 km, and we demonstrate inline-amplified 2.1-THz WDM transmission using 21-ch 640-Gb/s/? signals with 100-GHz WDM spacing with the longest transmission distance of 1,280 km using an OPA-based repeater only. |
