Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are many wires inside mechatronic devices and robots. We call replacing the wiring inside the devices with wireless as “a wireless harness”, and have been conducting research at an early stage. Since FY2019, we have created a research group at Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), Chiba University, and Saitama University, and have been researching and developing wire-free robots. In this research, in addition to controlling by wireless communication in the 60 GHz band, we also aim to eliminate disconnection due to bending by eliminating the wiring required for power supply at the joints and transmitting power in a non-contact method. Through research and development so far, we have developed a millimeter-wave wireless module in the 60 GHz band, a baseband module that implements the protocol for this system, and a motor driver module that controls the robot arm. In addition, Chiba University has developed a load-independent multi-hop power transmission method, and Saitama University has developed a wideband, multi-polarized 60GHz band antenna. Currently, we are constructing an entire wire-free robot arm that integrates them. This paper introduces each module related to wireless communication and explains future developments.
