Abstract(in English) We numerically and experimentally investigated a structure modeling method using nonlinear spectral broadening. Structure modeling is important for the evaluation of various types of optical devices such as silicon waveguide devices and multicore fiber. New approaches for the structural and material evaluation along the propagation axis are required to achieve structure modeling. We have proposed a material evaluation method using nonlinear spectral broadening. In this study, we applied the proposed method to the structural evaluation. We measured the distribution of the effective cross-sectional area of a tapered silicon waveguide and confirmed that the change in the structure can be estimated.
