Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | To solve the spectrum scarcity problem, energy detection (ED) is an effective technique to find the vacant spectrum for spectrum sharing. The performance of ED greatly depends on the threshold setting. In general, the threshold can be set using the noise floor information in the wireless receiver. Since the noise floor is usually unknown a priori, a forward method noise floor estimation algorithm known as Forward Consecutive Mean Excision (FCME) algorithm is considered to estimate the noise floor. FCME algorithm estimates the noise floor by collecting noise samples starting from an initial noise samples set Q. In the literature, proper setting of Q was not discussed and Q was assumed to be 10% of total samples expecting that the total signal occupancy rate to be 90% of total samples. However, it was found that setting 10% of total samples for Q when parameters of ED are varied can lead to the situations that FCME could not update the noise samples set after first few iterations or signal samples could be present in the assumed noise samples set, in which case the noise floor estimation performance suffers. In this paper, appropriate size of Q is discussed when parameters including total number of samples, desired probability of false alarm, channel occupancy rate and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are varied. |
