Research on a MACKEY type M miniaturized by multiple slits

Abstract(in English) A functional small antenna “MACKEY” basic type operates not only in free space but also on metal. The goal of this research is to develop the RFID tags antenna downsized to card size. However, the conventional MACKEY has a problem that width "L" of MACKEY needs to be λ/2 at the design frequency. The RFID tags antenna is used 920MHz band, and MACKEYII’s "L" of 920 MHz band is 190mm.We propose a way to reduce the size of MACKEYII of 920 MHz band into card size. That is "MACKEY type M" that can secure the path of electricity in a small area. Type M can be extended the path of electricity in a meandered manner, by cutting slits along the long side of the grid plate. The path of electricity will ensure λ/2 or more electrically even if width "L" is reduced physically. We did a parametric study and realized our goals.
