Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Elementary cellular automata (ECAs) are simple digital dynamical systems in which time, space, and state are all discrete. Depending on simple rules, the ECAs can exhibit a variety or periodic orbits. This paper considers an application of ECAs to music generation. We present a simple algorithm that transforms a class of periodic orbits into simple melodies. Typical examples of melodies are demonstrated. Introducing two simple feature quantities, typical periodic orbits and corresponding melodies are evaluated and analyzed.
