Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we introduce the model-based scattering power decomposition method. It is a polarimetric analysis method and widely used in the field of utilization of polarimetric SAR data. Firstly, three-component decomposition, which was proposed for the first time by Freeman and Durden in 1998, is explained. By using the decomposition, the total scattered power can be decomposed into volume scattering, surface scattering, and double bounce scattering. The strong and weak points of the decomposition are made clear, and various solutions are shown to overcome the weak points. Four-component (and multi-component) decomposition and NonNegative Eigenvalue Decomposition (NNED) are also presented as the useful methods for improving or resolving the problems of the Freemans' decomposition.
