Polarimetric analysis of ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 data for grasping state of damaged bridge

Abstract(in English) In this report, we examine polarimetric scattering characteristics for grasping state of bridge under severe flood disaster situation by using quad-polarimetric SAR data. We carry out model-based scattering power decomposition, polarimetric orientation angle evaluation, and evaluation of alternative polarimetric angle obtained by the eigenvalue/eigenfunction analysis, to quad-pol ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 data in urban area. Many healthy bridges with various orientation directions are included in it. By considering the analysis results, we confirm that the double bounce scattering and the polarimetric angles are useful for identifying each bridge even when the alignment of the bridge is obliquely set to radar direction. We consider the feature may be useful to evaluate the inclined girder part of damaged bridge.
