Abstract(in English) | This paper presents a new low frequency (20MHz) radar system for scanning the huge structures of Pyramid in Egypt. A new compact antenna with Bowtie shape geometry is developed for Tx and Rx sides. A gain of 2 dBi is achieved for the antenna system. A proper feeding structure is deigned and fabricated to prohibit the flowing of the current to the outer part of the coaxial cables. The synchronization between Tx and Rx is accomplished for first time using optical link. The optical link consists of Electrical/Optical (E/O) modulator, optical cable, and Optical/electrical demodulator (O/E). The optical link provides a 5 dB gain. In addition, a low noise power amplifier with 25 dB gain is utilized to enhance the system performance. The LNA performance is evaluated experimentally at both Tx and Rx sides which shows better results at the Tx side. The developed GPR system has been verified by real measurements and shows reliable results. The system developed in this work is intended to be used in scanning the great Giza pyramid, which located in Giza, Egypt. The simulations are carried out using a commercial simulator. To validate our proposed GPR system, the prototype of is installed in a controlled environment and in operative conditions during the static test. |
