Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A cell voltage equalizer is indispensable for lithium-ion batteries (LIB) in electric vehicles to mitigate a cell voltage equalizer. In addition, LIBs at low temperatures need a heater to prevent a decrease in a discharge capacity. Compared to external heating techniques, internal ac heating techniques achieve higher heating efficiency and uniform heating. In internal ac heating techniques, however, a heating inverter is necessary to generate an ac heating current, increasing system complexity. This paper proposes a cell voltage equalizer integrating an ac heating inverter. Thanks to a reconfigurable technique at different switching frequencies, the proposed converter can operate either in a voltage equalization mode or an ac heating mode. The experimental verification using a prototype for 12 cells demonstrated that in addition to eliminating cell voltage imbalance, the proposed converter could heat up the LIB from −10℃ to 0℃ within 40 min.
