Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The level of receiving BS signals is affected by various factors such as precipitation in the atmosphere and the condition of ionosphere. Another potential factor like that is an aircraft flying over the sky. Airplanes on a cruise are generally flying at approximately the altitude of the tropopause because of the atmospheric density there and the resultant fuel efficiency. We routinely recorded the level of BS signals obtained at two observation points in two locations for four weeks, and found that pulsive level changes toward both up and down occur multiple times mainly during daytime. These signals appeared in the data of one location while no such signal appear in the other location. Defined the algorithm for extracting such pulsive signals, statistics of those extracted signals are investigated. Through the careful analysis, including comparison with the actual flight schedule and the route information, it is suggested that these pulsive signals can be attributed to the interference of the direct and the reflection waves made by an aircraft passing near the propagation path of the BS signal.
