Performance Improvement of Misaligned Underwater OWC Systems Using MIMO

Abstract(in English) In underwater optical wireless communication (UOWC), the position of the transceivers may fluctuate due to the influence of wave movement, which considerably affects the system performance. In this work, we consider a UOWC system that includes a fixed transmitter placed in the water and a moving receiver placed at the bottom of a vessel. To reduce the vessel motion effect, we propose to use the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique and coding scheme. According to our numerical results, the proposed MIMO-UOWC system with repetition coding can significantly improve transmission performance.
