Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) systems have attracted attention worldwide, being considered as one of the key technologies for the sixth generation wireless communication systems. Although CF-mMIMO systems ideally gather incoming signals received at access points (APs) at a common central processing unit (CPU), this may suffer from overloaded signal processing as the service area expands, implying the need of inter-CPU cooperation among multiple CPUs for load balancing. In this case, one of the non-negligible issues of inter-CPU cooperation is the quantization error due to the limited backhaul links utilized to exchange information among them. In this paper, we evaluate the system performance of CF-mMIMO systems composed of multiple CPUs, revealing the superiority of the latter in comparison with cellular distributed MIMO counterparts, in which each CPU operates independently.
