Searching multiple solutions for gear train optimization by GPSA

Abstract(in English) This paper aims to simultaneously design multiple gear trains by minimizing the weight of the gearbox. To this end, gravitational particle swarm algorithm (GPSA) is utilized, which can obtain multiple optimal solutions of real valued cost function. Specifically, we converted the vector components of a particle in GPSA by floor function, which components indicate the number of gear teeth. As the results, the modified GPSA outputted 22 gear trains in a single trial. Furthermore, it found feasible solutions in 97.8% of 100 trials, while particle swarm optimization only 33.3%.
