Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Polymer optical fiber (POF) can be heat-drawn at a temperature as low as not to be destroying the dopants added in the host matrix. Our group has been investigating optical responses of the doped POFs using organic dyes. In this study, we considered using phthalocyanine derivative (Pc) as a dopant. Pc has a sharp absorption band between 650 and 700 nm called the Q band, which matches the transmission window of the host matrix of the POF. Hence, the probe beam that propagates down the fiber can be delivered effectively to the Pc without being vanished by the absorption of the host matrix. Here we report on preliminary property evaluation results using Pc-doped POF.
