Abstract(in English) | Recently, due to the aging of the population, prevention of nursing care is becoming more important. Measurement of activities of daily living (ADL) is a key component in prevention care. The measurement of shoulder range of motion (ROM) is one of the major item of measurement of ADL. In this paper, we propose a game-based automatic measurement system using a depth sensor for the shoulder ROM. The system can measure the ROM during playing game and the game can be played as e-sports in the elderly community. The system has three elements, such as game for e-sports in elderly community, motion induction for ROM measurements, and calculation method of the ROM of a joint from the measurement results of a depth sensor. We evaluated the system in three elderly communities. In the evaluation of the motion induction, it successfully induced either abduction or flexion. In the evaluation of the accuracy of the measurement, we compared the results with those of the measurement by professionals. The average absolute errors were 16.3 degrees for abduction and 11.7 degrees for flexion in the parameters where the errors were minimized, achieving the same level of accuracy as the existing method where the motion is instructed and measured by a depth sensor. |
