Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Weathered patterns of the rock surface called "tafoni" are reproduced by a mathematical model. Tafoni is a weathering pattern of many holes on the surface of rocks, which is considered to be formed by “salt weathering”. The model assumes that water containing salt moves through the rock by diffusion and when the water evaporates from the surface of the rock, salt is deposited near the surface and the particles consisting the rock are removed by crystallization pressure.
