Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been studying a POF humidity sensor using HEC as cladding. This sensor has excellent characteristics in that it responds linearly to humidity above 20%RH, but because of its low sensitivity, we are trying to increase its sensitivity by doping the cladding with dye. This method certainly improves the sensitivity of the sensor, but at the same time, we found that it may reduce the operating range of the sensor. In this study, we investigated the sensitivity and operating range of a POF humidity sensor in which the amount of dye doping was varied in steps from 1/50 to 1/10 of the HEC. As a result, the sensitivity of the sensor increased with the increase of the dye doping amount in the cladding, but the operating range was limited to high humidity.
