[Poster Presentation] Taper structure dependence of transmission loss of microfiber for measuring refractive index of aqueous solution

Abstract(in English) We numerically analyzed the transmission loss characteristics due to the shortest waist length and angle of the tapered part of the microfiber using the beam propagation method (BPM). Analysis results revealed that the wavelength change of transmission loss increases as the shortest waist length of the tapered part increases, and the change of transmission loss increases as the taper angle increases. In addition, we experimentally fabricated microfiber using hater and we measured the structure of the microfibers and the wavelength characteristics of transmission loss. As a results, although excessive loss occurred, the experimental results have good agreement with the analysis ones.
