[Invited Talk] Advancement of Multiuser Massive MIMO Null-Space Expansion

Abstract(in English) Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology with base stations having more than a hundred antennas has been a promising solution to improve spectral efficiency. Massive array brings the benefit of improving the signal gain by beamforming, especially in the higher frequency band, as well as increasing the number of signal streams for spatial multiplexing. A significant challenge of the multiuser MIMO is the interference leakage among user terminals caused by the channel time variation due to their mobility, which significantly degrades the transmission performance. A previous study proposed a null-space expansion that can maintain the inter-user interference suppression effect even under the mobility environment. It performs null-steering to past interference channel state information, fully exploiting the huge spatial degree of freedom that massive antenna elements bring. This paper presents the fundamental principle of the null-space expansion scheme, its extension for further capability enhancement, and its potential for advancement.
