Abstract(in English) | For IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) networks, RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks) is standardized by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) as a routing protocol. In RPL, each node estimates the link quality for neighboring nodes and builds a tree structure with the sink as the root node. In existing schemes, each node sends a packet to neighboring nodes to estimate the link quality. However, this method makes the overhead of the RPL control packet larger. This paper proposes BROF (Broadcast Reception based Objective Function) that estimates the link quality by using the actual number of DIO (DODAG Information Object) receptions and the predicted number of DIO receptions. This paper evaluated BROF by comparing it with MRHOF implemented in Contiki-NG, which is an OS for IoT devices. As a result, BROF has fewer parent node switches than MRHOF and the control overhead of BROF is about 35% of that of MRHOF. Furthermore, the average delay time when sending UDP packets in BROF is smaller than that in MRHOF. |
