Effect of Jitter Noise on BER in Undersampling of Modulated Waves

Abstract(in English) In this paper, the effect of jitter noise on BER when undersampling modulated signals such as QAM signals is investigated by simulations. When performing AD conversion, there is a technique called undersampling that samples signals with frequencies higher than the Nyquist frequency. However, when sampling an input signal in a high frequency band, noise and phase fluctuation caused by clock jitter can lead to signal degradation. In recent years, the performance of ADCs has improved, and GHz band ADC capable of sampling with an aperture jitter less than 100[fs] has been reported. Sampling of QAM modulated waves with input frequencies up to 350[MHz] has already been discussed. In this paper, we study the effect of clock jitter when undersampling QAM modulated waves up to 60[GHz].
