Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, automatic driving and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) have attracted a great deal of attention. On the one hand, Millimeter-wave radar, which we are focusing on, has advantages over other sensor systems, such as the ability to observe long distances even in bad weather, but on the other hand the performance of the radar is restricted in the situation where the space of mount is limited, such as a car. Therefore, we have studied target imaging by SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) processing using millimeter-wave radar. Since this method does not require array antennas, it is possible to generate high-resolution 2-D images of the side of a car even with small antennas. This makes it possible to stop a car safely even in the case of a disaster or sudden bad weather. However, actual targets are distributed in 3-D space, and 2-D imaging cannot detect the height of objects. In order to achieve more accurate target detection, 3-D imaging based on height position estimation applying Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation is necessary. In this paper, we observe the side or diagonally front of a car using a radar with array antennas in the vertical direction and apply tomographic SAR. We then present the results of an observation experiment to estimate the height of the target by applying DOA estimation in the elevation direction.
