Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a cryptographic method that has been proven as secure against any physically allowable attack. Satellite QKD, in which QKD is performed by artificial satellites, can get over the difficulty of long distance transmission in optical fiber QKD. However, the quality degradations are expected owing to atmospheric-induced effects in satellite QKD. In this study, we propose an application of polar codes, which are highly capable of error correction, into QKD. We adopt reconciliation efficiency, which show the rate of performance degradation from the Slepian-Wolf bound as performance indicator, to compare the performance of polar codes and LDPC codes by numerical simulations. It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme has superior characteristics.
