Abstract(in English) In this paper, we investigate an uplink signal detection problem in scalable cell-free massive multiple input multiple output (CF-mMIMO) systems subject to capacity-limited fronthaul links. We propose highly-reliable two receiver designs, which can mitigate the effects of capacity-limited fronthaul links by making use of the heteroscedastic covariance matrix of the equivalent noise. The first receiver based on an expectation propagation framework requires a higher computational burden but yields the best performance. The second receiver based on a generalized least square (GLS) variation of the discreteness-aware maximum likelihood (ML) estimation achieves significant reduction in the computational complexity with only slight performance degradation compared to the first one. Simulation results demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed receiver designs in comparison to the conventional receiver designs in terms of bit error rate.
