On Information-Theoretic Secure Authentication Key Exchange via Y00 Quantum Cryptography

Abstract(in English) We propose an information-theoretically secure (ITS) procedure for a secret key agreement to share a secret key with a new entity through networks where malicious users hide. In conventional networks, computationally secure public-key encryptions play the role. Even in the era of quantum technologies, the most promising quantum-resistant cryptography is computationally secure. Contrarily, several protocols have been studied to realize ITS communications for symmetric-key encryptions. However, the weakest primitive of the security chain determines the whole security level; until we use computationally secure encryptions for the key agreement processes, the whole performance stays computationally secure. The motivation of this study is to study a possibility of an ITS key-agreement process using a Y00 protocol. We also give a rough sketch of the ITS key-agreement process using quantum key distributions that may be worth challenging, although there seem to be severe problems compared to the situation using a Y00 protocol. Detailed security evaluations remain for both protocols.
