A Study on Single-Field Finite-Difference Time-Domain Scheme based on Wave Equation

Abstract(in English) As a method to improve computational efficiency of the conventional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, a single-field FDTD scheme based on the wave equation of electric field and the Crank-Nicolson method was recently proposed. In this work, we present a finite integration formulation of the single-field FDTD scheme to distinguish discretization errors, and also evaluate the global relative error of its scheme by using the analytical solution of a cavity resonator mode. It is demonstrated that, with a larger time step size than the upper limit of the Courant condition, the scheme is stable and second-order convergent.
