Abstract(in English) In a design of a polarization splitter, it is required to realize the shorter element length and the wider bandwidth. The element length and bandwidth are examined for a polarization splitter consisted of fiber1 with a single core and fiber2 with circular pits that touch the top and bottom of a single core. As a result, it is found that the bandwidth of the polarization splitter with W-type refractive index distribution in the core of fiber1 can be wider than that of the polarization splitter with the step-type or graded-type refractive index distribution in the core of fiber1.
