Bayesian Optimization of Three-Dimensional Plasmonic Devices

Abstract(in English) We study on an optimal design of three-dimensional plasmonic devices utilizing Bayesian optimization. In order to optimize design variables, various solution search algorithms have been proposed in automatic optimal design so far. One of the typical approaches is a gradient method and it is efficient but easy to be trapped at a local optimum. In addition, it requires sensitivity analysis of the design objective. On the other hand, the evolutionary method can find global optimum and it does not require the sensitivity analysis, however its computational cost is generally high. Therefore, in this study, we present an efficient optimal design approach of plasmonic devices using Bayesian optimization, which has a potential to find global optimum efficiently and require sensitivity analysis. Plasmonic devices are often discussed in two-dimensional structure. In this study, we consider plasmonic device in practical three-dimensional structure.
