Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we evaluated the effects of neural activities in the ventral pallidum (VP) and nucleus accumbens core (NAc) on choice behavior in rats from the viewpoint of information theory. Using the partial information decomposition (PID) technique as a analysis method, we calculated shared, synergy, and unique information about the rat's choice between the firing rate and the recent experiences, the contribution of the choices and the reward outcomes in the last trial. As a result, the neural activities of VP and NAc had the statistically significant synergy effects with the most recent experiences.
