A Study on Inter-Cluster Interference Coordination for Distributed Antenna Network Using Quantum Computing

Abstract(in English) In a large-scale distributed antenna network, where a large number of antennas are deployed over a base station coverage area (cell), the computational complexity of MU-MIMO becomes prohibitively high. By grouping users in a cell into clusters and by performing cluster-wise small-scale MU-MIMO in parallel, the computational complexity can be reduced, but in return strong inter-cluster interference is produced and accordingly, the user/sum capacity degrades. An efficient method of user clustering and antenna association which can effectively mitigate the strong inter-cluster interference is necessary. However, considering that radio access network will become even more dense in the future, user clustering and antenna association, which is a combinational optimization problem, will be difficult to solve in finite time. In this paper, we propose quantum annealing-based interference coordination. Quantum annealing is specialized in combinational optimization problem among quantum computing that have been attracting attention in recent years. We formulate QUBO for user clustering and antenna association based on location information. We evaluate the user capacity, the sum capacity, and the fairness among users by computer simulation to show the effectiveness of interference coordination by quantum computing.
